What is WinX DVD Player

WinX DVD Player is a software program that plays all types of DVDs, as well as a variety of media file formats.

This player has a basic interface and fewer functions than some of the more elaborate media players, but it supports DVDs from all six regions, calling itself a "region free" DVD player. While some DVD players or programs may run into problems with certain discs, WinX DVD Player will play homemade and copy-protected discs. In addition to DVDs, the player supports popular media formats such as AVI, WMV, DIVX, VOB, and XVID. It also supports audio files such as MP3, WMA, and RMA. WinX has a high level of audio quality, and supports AC-3 surround sound.

The interface for this player is rather basic. It offers two different skins: default and gray. The main controls stay on screen at all times and are pretty easy to figure out. This simplicity can be good for those who are just interested in a plug-and-play DVD player.

There are a few extra features in the program that may appeal to a casual DVD watcher. A bookmark function lets you save your place and return to it at a later time, and a screenshot tool lets you take screenshots of the media from inside the program. Other than this, however, there are not many extra features. If you are looking for more options to tweak your audio or video, such as a sound equalizer or video quality adjustment panel, you will need to look for a different program.

A couple of other drawbacks might remind you of early PC interfaces. The persistent registration message and media player controls never seem to go away. Furthermore, there are no help balloons to tell you what buttons do before you push them.

If you have trouble playing a DVD from a certain region, WinX DVD Player may be worth a download, but there are a number of suitable media players that offer more functionality and a better interface.
